All his dreams are now impossible to attain, which is why he is "pitching himself leads in other people's dreams." Also, the "hole where something was" could mean that he now has no dreams/goals.
Next is a flashback where the protagonist fell out of bed and injured himself while he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He is given the butterfly bandage while in the hospital. After he fell out of bed, while still under the influence, he committed some sort of crime, and was arrested by the local police. The crime made the papers: "Hey editor, I'm undeniable." The protagonist is taken after the hospital after being arrested, where he is given a CAT scan and has his wound (from earlier) bandaged.
"I'm a loose bolt" indicates that the protagonist is mentally ill.
"I'm half doomed and you're semi-sweet" refers to the fact that he is under the influence, and also that he is in the company of someone he is sexually interested in.
"Boycott love" indicates that the crime was relationship-motivated, most likely domestic violence.
"Detox just to retox" shows that the protagonist is obviously a drug/alcohol abuser, and has had several failed attempts at becoming clean.
"I'll promise you anything for another shot at life" is the protagonist's plea before the judge to go easy on him.
"Imperfect boys with their perfect ploys, nobody wants to hear you sing about tragedy" is the response from the judge, rebuking the protagonist's 'sing and dance'.
The next part is about another person, who is a truck driver. We will call him 'The Trucker'. He is eliciting sex from an underage prostitute. He wonders if he is being set up: "Was that just a telescopic camera nob?" He is at a truck stop frequented by prostitutes. "Lot lizard scale" is street talk for "drug-addicted prostitute at a truck stop" and the "night-life moods" refer to how truckers get lonely at night. "All you rookies leave your badge and your gun on the desk when you leave the room" indicates that this was indeed a stakeout, and that the trucker and the prostitute are being filmed and watched from a remote location. The trucker is arrested for solicitation.
"I'm a loose bolt" indicates that the trucker is mentally ill.
"I'm half doomed and you're semi-sweet" means that the trucker has done something that he regrets, probably in a past relationship, and that he is basically taking whatever he can get, in this case, a prostitute.
"Boycott love" may refer to the trucker's cynical view of relationships.
"Detox just to retox" shows that the trucker has solicited sex before, and that he has attempted to stop, although he failed.
"I'll promise you anything for another shot at life" is the protagonist's plea before the judge to go easy on him.
"Imperfect boys with their perfect ploys, nobody wants to hear you sing about tragedy" is the response from the judge, rebuking the trucker's 'sing and dance'.
