The video and the song are two different beasts. In the song it talks about the first stage of addiction recovery. Awareness. The line “for know I’ve accepted who I’ve become”, and even the first line “one day the shadows will surround me, sometime I’ll have to accept who I’ve become”. These are him saying I have a problem,I’m sorry about not listening as everyone left him.He stepped aside so the people who loved him didn’t have to see him. In the video he sees people who have died doing what he has done and he breaks down. He’s in denial. However in the end while he’s digging his grave he realizes that he doesn’t have to end it like this so he gets rid of the problem. This is his early recovery.
