When selling an ounce of dope it is customary for the dealer to give an additional bonus of 3.5 grams to the buyer. The "nine piece" refers to the ounce split into the next smallest volume for sale which is eight (8) eighth-ounce (1/8 oz.) 8-balls, then adding the bonus 8-ball.
