I think it means a guy having a fight with his girlfriend, and then she leaves. He starts to miss her a lot, and it feels like everything is just so sad and desperate and that life is dull and pointless. He's wanting to get her back, but then he falls for another girl, but soon realizes that the girl that he was with was the one for him. It causes him almost physical pain because of himself missing the girl. Hope it helps
